We hold our annual performance at the Vines Road Community Centre, this time selling out two shows, with over 400 people enjoying our usual high energy show. Featured was the premiere of “Awkwardstra! An extravaganza for orchestra and piano”, written and performed by Kym Dillon as part of a commission funded by a City of Great Geelong Community Grant. Colin Mockett’s review said it all: “two standing ovations weren’t nearly enough!”

Melbourne community orchestra, Squawkestra, sends a busload of musicians down for a fun day of collaborative music making. 80 musicians pack out the Vines Road Community Centre for no other reason than to enjoy playing fun tunes together.

We hold a concert at our home, the Vines Road Community Centre featuring 50 musicians for a packed house of over 200. Colin Mockett reviewed the concert, this time commenting that “Awkwardstra Geelong is a living, breathing source of absolute joy.”

We perform at the Geelong Art Society to open the Senior’s Exhibition in celebration of Senior’s Week.

Our second concert is held at the Vines Road Community Centre featuring 24 musicians. Tickets are sold to the public and a packed audience of 200 raise the roof. A review by Colin Mockett stated: “In almost 40 years of reviewing concerts in Geelong, I have experienced much, from the abysmal to the sublime – but I can honestly say, hand on heart, that I have never seen or heard a more joyful group than this Awkwardstra.”
